Christmas Lights Displays in Orlando Neighborhoods and Homes

© Orlando Local Guide

Christmas Lights can be found all around Orlando in the city’s communities and neighborhoods. Some of the best displays can be found in some of the city’s oldest neighborhoods of Delaney Park, Conway, and Belle Isle (See scenic drive in map below). There are not as many planned communities or cookie cutter homes in these neighborhoods and the older homes are mostly smaller in size so they are ideal for Christmas Lights Displays. These are completely residential sites so the best time for viewing is between the hours of 7 pm-9 pm.

Winter Park Displays

The first of the best light displays I have seen in any residential neighborhood resides in the Winter Park Corners neighborhood near the intersection of Aloma and Lakemont that resides behind the strip plaza that has the Tijuana Flats and Outback Steakhouse. The houses on the streets appear to have at least 85% participation with a lot of the homes putting up a significant amount of lights and displays. Please see the map below for the driving directions to the Winter Park Corners neighborhood and POV video of the neighborhood.

The second of best light displays that I have seen comes from a reader who pointed out in the comments section in 2010 of a house on Howell Branch to check out that is a “Get out of your car and check it out” type of house to look at. After visiting the location, I learned the house has been featured on the Travel Channel and there are several other homes in the Garden Grove community that go all out as well with lights and Christmas Villages displays (see picture above and video below of the Garden Grove neighborhood).

Pictured to the right is the 2011 Christmas Lights display of Steve and Betty Slack at 455 Lakefront Blvd, Winter Park, FL 32789 close to Winter Park Village when they featured 28 tree’s of Christmas lights. This is the 21st year that they have put on their light display that will instead feature a 70 foot wall of 19,ooo color lights from roof-line to ground with nearly 60,000 lights total around their property. The lights are on every evening from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM and will be on display beginning on December 1st, 2012.

Christmas in the Shire

In the Hunter’s Creek neighborhood of South Orlando is Christmas in the Shire (pictured to the left), where Andrew Albertson has built a free Christmas Tree attraction out of his home complete with Christmas Trees, lights, and ornaments. Over 60 tree’s are lit up on the outside of Andrew’s home with an additional 40 tree’s on the inside. Andrew says that the display’s inspiration is his grandmother who “introduced me to the magic of sharing the experience with friends and family!” He goes on to say that “Christmas is a time of love and sharing with friends and family. Christmas in the Shire gives me the perfect opportunity to spread joy to people!” The lights for Christmas in the Shire begin on Saturday, December 1st, 2012.

Baldwin Park

Baldwin Park Displays

New for 2012 in the community of Baldwin Park is the home of the McBride family (see picture to the right) at 2835 Kemper Ave Orlando, FL 32814 that has around 7,000 lights synchronized to music. Santa Claus, his sleigh, and reindeer are on the roof with Elmo, Frosty the Snowman, and Mickey Mouse down below. Also check out the Baldwin Park Festival of Lights Night Parade on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 that you can find out about here.

Chuluota, Florida

Oviedo and Chuluota Christmas Lights

Submitted in our comments section below from Kristin and Paul, there is a great Christmas Lights display near Oviedo in Chulota, Florida called Kilowatt Christmas that synchronizes over 18,000 lights to Christmas music that you can pick up on your FM receiver on channel 93.9. The house is located at 536 Wax Palm lane, Chuluota, Florida 32766. Check out their Youtube page here to see their impressive shows. The show runs Sunday through Thursday from 5:45 pm until 10 pm and until 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Christmas Lights Neighborhood Map

I’ve included an interactive Google Map below of the different communities that I recommend to go searching for Christmas Lights. The Scenic Christmas Lights Drive is not an exact match of homes you will see but is rather a rough guide that is meant to deviate from as you find homes with lights around Orlando. The Winter Park Corners Scenic Drive is a short drive through the neighborhood that contains a strong amount of lights to view. Please add homes with great lights in the comments section below and I will add them to the map as we work to build an ultimate user generated map of Christmas Lights around Orlando.

Come back to this page using the shorter URL: http://OrlandoLocalGuide.com/Lights

The map below has rankings of lights from 1 to 10 with 1 being the lowest (Check out the house if you are in the neighborhood) to 10 being the highest (Make a special trip to see these lights) and everything in between. I will continue to add lights as I find them or comments are made below:

Your forgetting the best one of them all!
Corner of Tangerine Ave. and Howell Branch road in Winter Park
    next to Eastbrook Elementary School.
Every inch of the house and yard is covered in lights.
People get out of their cars to walk around the property.
    You won’t be disappointed.

      Hello Robira,

Thanks for the information! I have added your location to the map as “Eastbrook Elementary School”.

      Keep the locations coming!

Here are a couple of great light displays on the east side of Orlando in the Waterford Lakes area:
    1. Fieldstream subdivision off Lake Underhill: Almost the entire cul de sac along Angler Ct are VERY well decorated. It seems that everyone who lives on that court have coordinated their efforts. We’ve been by there every year for 3 years at it does not disappoint. It is worth stopping and video taping. The neighborhood is less than a mile west of the intersection of Rouse Rd. and Lake Underhill Rd, on the south side of Underhill.
    2. Cypress Springs area: There are 3 houses that have extensive lighting that are all coordinated to the same music that you tune into on your radio. They are in the Summer Lakes neighborhood off of Cypress Springs Pkwy. Once you turn into Summer Lakes, take a left into the Estates section onto Summersping Lakes Dr., then turn (I think it was a right turn) onto Summer Swan Drive. Either end of Summer Swan Dr dead ends after a short drive, so a wrong turn is no big deal. The three houses are in a cluster together on both sides of the street, and the lighting display is one of the best I’ve seen in the east Orlando area. These are the kind of displays you see on YouTube. Worth stopping and video taping.
    3. 624 White River Dr, Orlando Fl: This house is in a neighborhood off of Mark Twain Blvd in the Waterford Lakes area. I lost count of the blow-ups, lights, and such they had in their large yard. It is a corner lot house, and there are ALOT of lights and such on display on this property. Mark Twain Blvd runs between Lake Underhill Rd. and S. Alafaya Trail. From Mark Twain Blvd, turn onto River Delta Dr., then right onto Aggie Dr, then right onto White River Dr.. Another display worth video taping.

    Hello Eric,

Thank you for the additions to the Christmas Lights collection. I have added all of them to the Google Map in the article as well as a few other lights that I found while driving around tonight.

Also, two new videos have been added to the article for the Garden Grove (formerly listed as “Eastbrook Elementary School”) location and Winter Park Corners location that are both given a rating of 10 on the map. Please keep the lights locations coming.

    Merry Christmas Orlando!
    Scott
