Otronicon is Orlando’s biggest interactive technology and video gaming conference and event that takes place each January at the Orlando Science Center. With Orlando having one of the largest simulation industries in the world and being home to one of Electronic Arts largest video game development teams in EA Tiburon, the 2013 event will take place on Friday, January 18th through Monday, January 21st, 2013 beginning at 10 AM. The event is open until 10 PM on Friday and Saturday and 6 PM on Sunday and Monday.
EA Sports
EA Sports EA Tiburon team is based out of Maitland, Florida and develops a majority of Electronic Arts sports titles including Madden NFL Football, NCAA Football, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour. At Otronicon, they will be setting up a blue screen and allowing guests to interact with their virtual playbook that is seen during ESPN sports telecast as well setting up playing stations where guests can play against each other with the latest lineup of EA Sports Games.
Medical and Military Simulation
In addition to video games, there will be several areas setup at the Science Center demonstrating the latest in military and medical simulation. Florida Hospital and Lockheed Martin will be on hand to show off how these types of technologies are being used within the medical and defense industries.
A technical director from the University of Central Florida’s Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy will be discussing game development for the iphone and the Orlando Science Center will be presenting a workshop on entry-level robotics creation.
Laser Tag
Finally, Otronicon will have a Laser Tag attraction from Battlefield Live Orlando.
Prices
Prices for Otronicon are $27.00 for adults, $26.00 for students and seniors, and $20.00 for kids ages 3 – 11. You can also experience all four days of the event with an Orlando Science Center annual pass for $105 per individual or a family annual pass for $135.
