Jack’s Place is a restaurant at the on International Drive that sounds like it could be a casual diner but in reality is one of the nicer restaurants in the area to take a date out for a romantic meal.

This is our review of Jack’s Place Restaurant at the Rosen Plaza hotel that provides a cozy-upscale atmosphere with autographed historical-caricature pictures on the walls for decor.

Jack’s Place

We were recently invited by the Rosen Plaza to attend a special event at Jack’s Place to help celebrate the holidays in the month of December. The restaurant is located off of the main lobby of the Rosen Plaza hotel so it is convenient for both guests staying at the hotel and for visitors looking for a restaurant to dine at on International Drive.

Jack’s Place has a sophisticated look and feel and is small-and-cozy in size. Along the walls of the restaurant are caricatures all drawn from “Jack” during his time working security at the historic Waldorf Astoria in New York City that you can read about and view a video tour here. The caricatures bring a level of authenticity to the restaurant along with the feelings of nostalgia of another time and place.

Filet Mignon and Sea Bass

All of the menu items that we had during our time at Jack’s Place were prepared well and delicious to our taste. For our main courses we choose the Filet Mignon and Sea Bass that were just as good in quality as fillets and seafood dishes that we have had at other high-end restaurant establishments around Orlando. The dinners are served with vegetables and either the creamy steakhouse au gratin potatoes or the mashed rustic potatoes topped with bleu cheese.

Other steaks available include the 14 ounce center cut New York Strip Steak, a 20 ounce Ribeye Steak, 20 ounce T-Bone Steak, and the 16 ounce Veal Chop.

Other seafood menu items include the Sesame Crusted Tuna, Grilled Salmon Fillet, Broiled Swordfish Steak, and the Jumbo Northeast Coast Sea Scallops.

Appetizer and Desserts

The Rivington Street Salad and Spinich Ravioli were a great way to start off our meal and the wide selection of mini-dessert selections were the perfect way to end our night. An assortment of bread also accompanies the meal (see video below).

Caricature Drawings on Friday and Saturday Nights

Every Friday and Saturday night, Jack’s Place has a caricature artist on hand to draw caricatures of guests dining at the restaurant (one complimentary caricature sketch per entree) between the hours of 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm. In our case, we had our two daughters joining us for dinner that the artist was able to caricaturize. It’s a nice touch for a romantic night out to celebrate a special occasion (see video below).
