Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10th, 2015 and Orlando Local Guide has you covered for dinner ideas and things to do. From movies, to restaurants, and brunch, there are all sorts of ways to celebrate mom this Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day in Downtown Orlando
Our first recommendation for Mother’s Day is to spend the morning in Downtown Orlando for Mother’s Day brunch and picnic around Lake Eola Park. Some of the best brunches can be had at Dexter’s and SoCo in Thornton Park and the farmers market that will be open for business at Lake Eola. Walk over to the Cobb Movie Theater on Church Street and Orange Avenue to catch a movie. If you will be in Downtown Orlando at night, click here for our list of romantic restaurants to take mom to. Mother’s Day in Winter Park
Technically in Orlando city limits but just on the edge of Winter Park, Harry P Leu Gardens has free admission for Mom’s on Mother’s Day 2015 (see video and map below). Leu Gardens is Orlando’s premier botanical gardens that has nearly 50 acres of landscaped areas and lakes. If mom’s birthday categorizes her as a senior citizen, she might enjoy a boat tour of the Winter Park chain of lakes and a walking tour of the Tiffany Morse Musuem. For brunch in Winter Park, we recommend Keke’s Breakfast Cafe, Briar Patch on Park Avenue, Dexter’s, or brunch and a movie at the Cheesecake Factory in Winter Park Village. Mother’s Day at Disney World
The kids may enjoy the Magic Kingdom best on their vacation, but mom will enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. Check out the butterfly garden to view well over 100 butterflies flying around in the green house and stroll around the rest of Epcot to view the 75 topiary’s around the park. For a mother and daughter day, treat mom to afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa on Sunday.
