Back in the go-go days of new home construction in the Orlando area, there were many standalone places to shop at for home decorating and renovation products.
Home construction store Expo Design Center was a permanent home show of specialized counter tops, light fixtures, home theaters, and patio furniture. Robb & Stucky could furnish you with the home of Donald Trump’s dreams. A housing bust and a huge IKEA store opening a few years later and the options for connecting with building and remodeling professionals for your home has gotten a little more challenging.
We love Swedish-meatballs as much as the next guy, but sometimes you need a little something more. Enter the original home expo, the Orlando Home Show at the Orange County Convention Center. With the housing market on the rebound in the Orlando area, now is a great time to be looking at doing home renovations and making upgrades to your home.
Orlando Home Show 2013
The Orlando Home Show will take place at the Orange County Convention center on Friday, October 4th, 2013 through Sunday, October 6th, 2013. A huge showroom and presentations show you the latest in home design, construction, and landscaping that is setup to connect homeowners with construction professionals and firms.
Josh Flagg, co-host of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, will be sharing his insights and tips during his Friday and Saturday presentations on the main stage. Learn home improvement must-dos, whether planning to sell your home in the next few years or enjoying it for the next decade.
Enjoy demonstrations and tasty samples prepared by Emily Ellyn (see picture above) of Food Network’s Next Food Network Star and Cupcake Wars on the Edible Orlando Cooking Stage, with top local chefs also appearing throughout the weekend. Other presentations include how-to’s from the DIY Guy and see two “Tiny Houses” and learn how to build your own 160-square-foot home from the founder of the Tiny Home Movement. Get inspired in designer rooms showcasing repurposed, restored or recycled items.
Show hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 AM – 9 PM and Sunday from 10 AM – 6 PM. Tickets are available at the door, and are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 60 years and older. If you purchase your adult tickets online, you save $3, making it $7 per ticket. On Sunday, there will also be a Food Truck Rally at the event.

Other Orlando Home and Garden Shows
There are three other Home and Garden Shows at the convention center throughout the year with the Central Florida Home & Garden Show, a sister show to the Orlando Home Show, that is held in March and the Orlando Home and Garden Show (that has no relation to the Central Florida Home and Garden Show) that is held in September and January.
