2015 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival Featuring Disney’s Topiary Displays March 4th through May 27th

Topiary Displays and Disney World have always gone hand in hand as Walt Disney, the person, got the idea of creating Disney character inspired topiary displays by seeing traditional topiary gardens in Europe. In 1963, Disney asked his landscaping team to create the now famous topiary displays for his Disneyland Park in California that would be later included at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Fast-forward to today’s Disney World and you can see that Disney Imagineers have taken the topiary to the next level, taking a page from the well defined topiary displays of the Tournament of Roses Parade, with the different organic materials to help form a true “living” topiary that are positioned in a way to help tell a classic Disney story.

Epcot Flower and Garden Festival 2015

The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival is Disney’s annual horticultural event that takes place each year during the months of March, April, and May at Epcot. The 2015 event takes place from Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 through Sunday, May 27th 2015. Each year, the Disney World Gardening and Landscaping teams fill Epcot with plants, flowers, and topiaries that sparkle under the Florida sunshine. You will always find Disney’s most famous characters of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy in topiary form as well as several of the Disney princesses. For 2015, there will be more than 75 Disney Character topiary’s at the park and over 100 topiary’s overall. Coy Tipping of Buttoned Up Closet Company states, “This is a spring weather, family-time event, equivalent to viewing Christmas light displays during the holidays. These topiaries are living works of art to be enjoyed by old and young alike and the setting couldn’t be more inviting. With Epcot as a back drop, there will be plenty to see and great cuisine options to choose from. This is a must see.”
