Fun Spot Action Park is the little theme park that could. Owned by UCF Alumni John Arie, Fun Spot has grown from a series of go-kart tracks to a small entertainment complex that has led the company to recently open up a second location in Kissimmee with plans to expand the International Drive location by 3 times the size.
Fun Spot Action Park International Drive
The Fun Spot on International Drive is essentially a permanent carnival setup in the heart of Orlando’s tourism district with the addition of go-kart tracks and a large arcade. Fun Spot has taken an unusual but successful marketing strategy in the Orlando area by advertising it’s business to local residents with billboards and television ads. The strategy has worked as Fun Spot provides a very affordable family night out at a fraction of the cost of other entertainment options that can be less than the cost of a movie. The commercials for the establishment are borderline cheesiness, in it’s celebration of all things fun with their chorus that Fun Spot Days are here again, but our 3 year old loves them (see video below).
Rides and Attractions
For all of the high tech shows and attractions in the Orlando area, Fun Spot is the only attraction in the tourism district that has a permanent ferris wheel and bumper cars. They also have several other carnival attractions and kiddie rides in addition to the 4 go-kart tracks. Fun Spot offers arcade games included with their combination ticket deals and skee ball.
Ticket Combination Prices and A La Carte
Unlimited daily Go-Kart wristbands are around $35 that includes all attractions, arcade games, and go-kart riding. The non Go-Kart riding unlimited wristband is in the $25 range and the kiddie rides only wristband is around $15. If you are only interested in driving the 4 Go-Kart tracks, the Track Sampler ticket is around $20.
A La Carte pricing for the Go-Kart track is around $6.00 and individual ride tickets are $3. The Ferris Wheel a la carte ticket is Orlando’s Best Bargain for an individual attraction. $2.50 savings can be found in Orlando tourism books or on the Fun Spot Website. Orlando residents will find Buy One Get One deals in the Orlando Entertainment Book.
Orlando Local Guide Recommendation
When we told some of our friends that we had taken our child to Fun Spot, they were what we may call “spot-curious”. It is a place where many locals are already taking their children to but a lot of others have not made the trip. When comparing Fun Spot to the big theme parks, there is no comparison in the quality of experience of the bigger theme parks. However, when comparing Fun Spot to miniature golf courses, movie theaters, and Chuck E Cheese Restaurants, Fun Spot provides a great family day or family night out to experience together. Fun Spot is geared towards children and teenagers so a couple without children are not going to find a lot of things to do here with the exception of the Ferris Wheel. Visiting family members from out of town have told us that their side trip to Fun Spot on their Disney vacation was one of the highlights of their childrens trips. Sometimes the attractions that focus %100 on the kids instead of the entire family have a longer lasting impression on them.
