Orlando’s annual event that celebrates and showcases the upcoming cultural season called the Red Chair Affair will take place on Saturday, August 24th, 2013 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center at 8pm.
Some of the highlights will include performances by the Orlando Philharmonic, Orlando Ballet, Orlando Repertory Theatre and Orlando Shakespeare Theater.
Red Chair Affair and the Red Chair Project
The Red Chair Affair is the annual event held by the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Central Florida under their Red Chair Project that is a service whose mission is to increase participation in and awareness of arts cultural offerings in Orlando. The event includes sample performances from Orlando’s biggest arts groups.
The Red Chair
The idea behind the empty red chair is that the chair is central to how we absorb many art forms. In performing arts we generally sit and observe and in many galleries and museums, we can study a piece more profoundly by sitting down. The empty chair is symbolic that there is a seat waiting for you to experience arts and culture in Central Florida. The color red evokes passion, which is the heartbeat of the arts. You can see thamany of Orlando’s cultural groups collectively make up the structure of the chair. Attendees are encouraged to dress in your best red for the event.
Ticket Prices
General Admission tickets are $22, Students w/ ID and Seniors 55 and older are $15. VIP tickets are $225 each and corporate packages are $2,500 (which includes 10 VIP tickets and an ad in the event program).
