Each year, the city of Winter Park commemorates the Christmas season by holding an event to turn on the lights of a large Christmas Tree in Central Park. The lighting ceremony features a children’s choir and Santa Claus. The Holiday Tree Lighting took place this year on Friday, December 5th, 2014 at 5:15pm.
Holiday Movie in Central Park
Immediately following the Tree Lighting ceremony, there are traditionally movies that are played outside at Central Park to celebrate the holidays. In previous years, the movies How the Grinch Stole Christmas and A Christmas Story were played outdoors in Central Park for a great family night out. The Grinch Movie began at 7 PM and was immediately followed by A Christmas Story.
The tree lighting will be broadcast live on WFTV – Channel 9.
