Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival
Since 1973, the city of Zellwood has been celebrating corn. Like Plant City’s celebration of the strawberry in March, Zellwood celebrates everything to do with corn each May, including serving kettle corn, fried corn, corn dogs, corn on the cob, and soda’s packed with high-fructose corn syrup. In addition to the corn offerings, there are a full assortment of other food offerings of pulled pork, smoked ribs, gyros, and hamburgers.
Carnival Rides and Musical Acts
In addition to the great food at the festival, there is a full carnival with a Merry Go Round, Sky Fighter, Granny Bugs, Circus Train, Sooper Jet, Berry Go Round, Paratrooper, Scrambler, Orbit, Tempest, Musical Swings, Spinner, and a Fun Slide.
On both Saturday and Sunday, Country music artists will be playing on two stages. During the 2011 event, American Idol season 9 finalist and Apopka native Janell Wheeler performed.
Tickets are $12 at the gate or $10 in advance. Ages 6-12 are $5 and children 5 and under are free. The festival grounds are located at 4253 W Ponkan Road; Apopka, FL 32712.
