Junior Achievement and UCF
For nearly 50 years, Junior Achievement has been bringing community leaders and volunteers into Central Florida classrooms by helping students learn vital skills including entrepreneurship and financial literacy. In 2012, Junior Achievement served 78,000 students in a total of 4,300 classrooms throughout Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Volusia, and Lake Counties with more than 3,400 community members and business leaders.
For more than 20 years, UCF has collaborated with Junior Achievement to bring UCF students into Orlando area elementary schools as part of the academic programs for the College of Business, the College of Education, and others where UCF students are able to earn college credit while benefiting the future leaders of the community in Orlando public schools. Implementing the Junior Achievement program, UCF undergraduates are able to teach skills that will benefit the students in the long run while also serving as a role model of the importance of continuing your education into the collegiate level.
Fred R. Kittinger, Associate Vice President of University Relations at the University of Central Florida, states that President Hitt has a “longstanding philosophy to make sure that many of the University’s programs and academic strengths are supporting the local economy in fields such as business, technology, and hospitality”.
